Local Energy Topics

The Redwood Coast Energy Authority monitors selected energy-related topics of interest or importance to our region.

Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE): a program that allows local governments to finance energy efficiency and renewable energy projects for eligible property owners, helping to remove barriers to project affordability.  

 

Humboldt Bay Repowering: an initiative by the Pacific Gas and Electric Company to replace the existing Humboldt Bay Power Plant with new equipment that is much more efficient, and also able to complement renewable energy sources as they become available.

 

WaveConnect: an ambitious project of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company to assess the potential wave energy off the Humboldt County shore, and how to economically harvest that energy in a sustainable manner. 

 

Community Choice AggregationCommunity Choice Aggregation: an innovative way for communities to more actively control the purchase of their electricity, along with some interesting challenges.
