Energy Tip:
Consider using a power strip to cut power to home office equipment when you are not using it as "phantom" energy is used even when your appliances are turned off but remain plugged in.

Ozone laundry systems are a relatively new laundering technique that increases the efficiency of high-volume laundry facilities. The savings come as a result of greatly diminished hot water requirements. Because of the way the ozone cleans fabrics, hot water is not as necessary as it is with traditional laundering processes. The ozone for the laundry system is produced from the oxygen in the surrounding air. This ozone is then injected into the cold water supplying the washing machine. When ozone is used as a laundering agent, it has a similar effect on fabrics as oxygen bleach.
Although ozone laundry systems are an excellent idea for larger commercial laundry operations, they are generally not cost-effective for small laundry operations due to their upfront cost. Typically a facility will need to do over 1000 lbs of laundry per day to have a cost effective ozone laundry project.
If an ozone laundry system is a good fit for your laundry operation, you can contact RCEA for assistance in obtaining available rebates to help offset installation costs.
